Description

The Used Welex 6" Single Screw Extruder, Model 6.0 30D, is a heavy-duty industrial extrusion system designed for demanding thermoplastic processing applications. Previously operated on PET resin, this extruder features a 30:1 L/D ratio and an air-cooled vented barrel, providing excellent melt quality, mixing efficiency, and devolatilization capability for moisture-sensitive polymers and recycled materials.

The barrel vent, located approximately 120 inches from the center of the feed throat, is currently plugged but may be configured for venting or vacuum devolatilization as required. The extrusion barrel incorporates six heating zones fitted with Tempco Cool Touch heater bands, while the downstream die system features nine additional heating zones for precise temperature management.

Power is supplied by a 500 HP Reliance AC motor, capable of operating the screw at speeds up to 200 RPM. Torque is transmitted through a direct-driven Koellmann gearbox featuring an 8.7:1 reduction ratio, providing dependable power delivery for high-output extrusion applications.

The machine includes a 10-inch × 8-inch feed throat, 68-inch centerline height, and a 6-inch Dynisco hydraulic screen changer complete with its hydraulic power unit, allowing continuous filtration and improved melt quality during production.
