MECHANIC / PRODUCTION LABORER

JOB DESCRIPTION
THE AARON COMPANIES
JOB TITLE: Mechanic/Production Laborer
REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor Mechanics or Shop Supervisor Production Laborers (as assigned)
FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY TYPE: Hourly
DEPARTMENT: Shop
OTHER: ALL TOOLS PROVIDED BY COMPANY

MAJOR FUNCTION:
Performs a variety of Shop functions including machine mechanics and production labor as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Tests equipment electrically and verifies it will function correctly
• Strips machines for electrical
• Services, repairs and maintains shop tools
• Performs machining and welding
• Reconditions process, plastics and centrifugal equipment
• Makes crates and skids when needed
• Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs field service as needed. This may include commercial airline flights and overnight stay.
• Paints equipment as needed
• Operates industrial lift truck & overhead cranes
• Performs general shop maintenance duties as needed
• Performs additional duties and/or projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• High School Graduate
• Extensive electrical skills
• 3-4 years general shop experience including warehouse equipment, forklifts and cranes
• Ability to use warehouse tools, lathes, drill presses, gas torches, etc. with proper safety techniques
• Ability to read general information and follow directions
• Mechanically inclined
• General maintenance background
• OSHA 10 certification preferred but we can have certification done upon complete of probationary period.
• Second Language a Plus

• Reports directly to the Production Laborer, Welder & Mechanic Supervisor (as assigned)

1. Complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
2. Maintain clean working environment
3. Assist in completing projects assigned to others
4. Produce work that is cost effective and done in a professional manner
5. Maintain all safety standards every day
6. Adheres to the rules of the Company Handbook
7. Offer prompt, reliable, courteous service to customers both internally and externally
8. Maintain professional conduct at all times
9. Achieves a “good” or better rating on each performance evaluation
10. Attendance record is within the guidelines of the Company Policy

LIFTING REQUIREMENTS: 75 lbs. (minimum)
