Rota Cone Tumble Blenders
Member of Process Equipment Manufacturers Association
Our standard Rota-Cone tumble blenders have proven themselves for many years. They provide the simplest and most dependable method for mixing chemicals, powdered metals, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, food ingredients and a host of specialty products.
The gentle, end-over-end action alternately folds and spreads the contents to provide low-shear mixing action. The inherently clean internal design provides complete discharge and reduces cross-batch contamination. Overall maintenance is low because there are no rotating seals.
For special applications, optional features such as agitators, liquid addition, inert atmosphere, jackets and special linings are optional features engineered as required. Available in both sanitary and heavy-duty construction. Available from 1 cu ft to 500 cu ft or more.
Liquid Addition Capabilities
Liquid addition is typically accomplished by spraying carefully controlled liquids through a stationary spray line mounted through one of the support trunnions. Liquids can be fed by pump or pressurized containers.
Granulation and de-agglomeration make use of high-shear features such as high-speed pins or blades which quickly disintegrate lumps or disperse liquids during liquid addition and granulation. Engineered to your process requirements, high-speed shafts are mounted through a trunnion on one side of the blender.
Vessel Positioning Systems
Automatic positioning system designed to locate the loading or discharge hatch/valve in position for loading or discharging. A circular steel disk with adjustable proximity switches is mounted to the trunnion and magnetic sensors are used to locate and stop the vessel in the preselected positions.
REQUIRES CONTROL PANEL AND BRAKE OPTIONS
System Includes:
- Positioning disk with adjustable magnetic targets bolted to one trunnion
- Proximity switches for measuring vessel position
- Set of electrical controls with motor controls mounted in a Nema-12 enclosure. Enclosures available for any rating
- A/C inverter on main drive for slow speed positioning of vessel
- Extendable sleeve available to reduce dust & increase safety
Drum Loading & Discharge
The drum lift system is used to load and discharge a Rota-Cone with steel or fiber drums or containers. The drum lift system allows a single operator to fill and/or discharge a Rota-Cone from ground level or remote and with minimal dust.
System Includes:
- Retractable roller assembly
- Pneumatic lift pistons
- Pneumatically actuated butterfly valve
- Drum loading adapter flange
- Drum discharging fill level sleeve
- Pneumatic controls
- Positioning disk with adjustable targets mounted on one trunnion
- Proximity switches for measuring vessel position
- Over the trunnion feed box on one trunnion for air feed supply
- A/C inverter on main drive for slow-speed positioning of vessel
Loading Sequence
- Position the drum on the retractable roller assembly beneath the butterfly valve and drum adapter flange. An adjustable stop centers the drum on the tray.
- When the operator is ready, the pneumatic lift is activated and retracts the roller tray and drum. The drum then seals to the gasketed adapter flange.
- After the drum is sealed, the Rota-Cone vessel is slowly rotated and at approximately 120°, the valve is automatically opened and the drum contents begin discharging. At 180°, the inverted drum is completely emptied and the valve is automatically closed.
- The vessel is again rotated 180° and the empty drum is disengaged from the adapter flange assembly, lowered and removed from the roller tray.
Discharge Sequence
- Position the drum on the retractable roller assembly beneath the butterfly valve and drum adapter flange. An adjustable stop centers the drum on the tray.
- When the operator is ready, the pneumatic lift is activated and retracts the roller tray and drum which then seals the drum to the gasketed adapter flange.
- The discharge valve is opened and the drum is filled to a predetermined level (fill level is controlled by an internal sleeve).
- The discharge valve is closed.
- The filled drum is disengaged from the adapter flange assembly, lowered and removed from the roller tray.
